The several sessions are necessary for the stop growing of the hair. On average, 5 to 8 procedures are required for laser hair removal of each zone. This is a necessity due to our physiology. The laser can only affect the hairs in the active phase of growth - there are approximately 20-30% of the total number of follicles. For this reason, between sessions of laser hair removal, the interval is from 3 to 4 weeks.
In addition, hair has various stages of growth. One of them is the active stage, also called the anagen stage. At any given time, from 15% to 20% of body hair is in an active stage. During laser hair removal, only those hairs that are active are eliminated. Thus, in one procedure, only 15-20% of the hair is removed. Other hairs in the body are in the catagen phase - the transition phase, when hair growth stops, and the outer shell of the root contracts and attaches to it. 3% of your hair is most likely at the catagen stage. Between 15% and 20% of your hair is at the telogen stage. This is the resting phase of the hair follicle. Every day a person loses from 25 to 100 telogenic hair. Therefore, in one procedure it will not be possible to affect all hair follicles at once and therefore it is necessary to perform several procedures within a few weeks or months.
Laser hair removal in some people gives a better effect than in others, because in different people hair regenerates in different ways. On average, drops from 70% to 80% after four to six courses of hair removal. But after just three treatments, at least 50% of your hair will disappear forever. Over the course of six treatments, this number will most likely grow to 90% of permanently eliminated hair.
Reduced regeneration during laser hair removal will also depend on the treatment area. On some parts of the body, the hairs are more pigmented than on others. And the darker the hair, the better it conducts a laser pulse to the follicle.
